March 2019

This is one of my favorite projects I’ve ever worked on.

Around this time of my career, we were going through an extended lull in projects in our department. A lot was changing at the higher levels, and much of our course production was put on hold until further logistics were figured out.

This, of course, gave our animation team a lot of time to experiment. One of our animators, Blake Bonecutter, floated the idea of bolstering our YouTube channel with content similar to that of Kursgezagt, TEDx, and the like. While I’m sad to say that the grand idea never came to fruition, we did end up putting a ton of effort into a proof of concept– this video!

This was the first video where everyone on our team played a part. Some did 3D modeling and animation, others did script and music choices, others created 2D assets to be overlaid. My role was to help oversee this project and eventually take everyone’s individual assets and bring them together in After Effects. Most of the 2D animations and effects are also mine.

Thanks for visiting. Seriously.
