Mattering Lab – Hero Image

My good friend (and old boss) mike knox has always been someone who I’ve admired, not just because of his character, but how he wants to use that character to positively influence others. So when he came to me to create the hero image for his new coaching business, I couldn’t turn him down. This ended up being my first real freelance project as an illustrator.

mike wanted a fantasy landscape that evokes feelings of hope, possibility, and adventure. We came on this idea of an apothecary cart to represent his services, with the adventure lying beyond. After a couple iterations on the sketch, I got to work, and ended up with what you see below! A fun challenge for my first real original piece, and while there are lots of things I’d do differently now, it was cool to see this come together.
